The White Wave Guided Tour

This is a great option if you are unable to secure one of the few permits to North Coyote Buttes. A more remote and longer hike than going to the Coyote Buttes version of wave rock but much more diverse. Starting in Water Canyon we will walk a few miles up the side of the steep canyon past the scenic Water Canyon Arch to the top. From here we can catch a glimpse of our destination to the White Waves a few miles away. Walking up a wash with several Ponderosa Pine trees we finally arrive at the White Waves. From here we can see incredible views of Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Cedar Breaks National Monument and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. If you didn’t know it you would think we are in Zion Park itself with all the great views. White sandstone domes are incredible here and make for some unusual photography but the whole hike is scenic all day long. Total hike distance can be about 10 miles and 2000 vertical feet. This is not technical in anyway but you should not be a beginner hiker and attempt this trail.

① Walk through the towering cliffs of Water Canyon past iconic Water Canyon Arch.

② Scenic hike winds through the steep side trail along the Canaan Mountain Wilderness past small waterfalls.

③ Ponderosa Trees and large orange sandstone domes come into view the higher we go.

④ Reaching the top of Water Canyon we can see our first view of our final destination: The White Wave overlooking Zion National Park.
